Tupolev Tu-154M, registered B-2615, flew for China Southwest Airlines as part of the Chinese regional carrier's fleet of Soviet-designed trijets supporting domestic routes during the 1990s and early 2000s. China operated a substantial fleet of Tu-154s across multiple regional carriers during this period, including China Southwest Airlines, before safety concerns following several fatal accidents involving the type, including a 1999 crash involving a China Southwest Tu-154M near Wenzhou that killed all 61 aboard, contributed to the type's phase-out from Chinese civil aviation in favor of Western-built aircraft.
