Airbus A330-343, registered B-5912, flies for Air China wearing the Star Alliance special livery, reflecting the carrier's founding membership in the global airline alliance since 1997. As part of Air China's substantial fleet of A330-300s supporting the flag carrier's domestic Chinese trunk routes and regional international network, the aircraft serves as a visible reminder of Air China's alliance partnerships across its extensive route map. Air China operates one of the largest A330-300 fleets among Chinese carriers, using the type to connect Beijing and other major Chinese cities to destinations throughout Asia.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers. The A330 has the same range and payload capacity as a DC-10 with 25% greater fuel efficiency. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
