Ilyushin Il-62, registered CCCP-86677, flew for Aeroflot on routes associated with Japan Air Lines (JAL), reflecting a codeshare or joint-marketing arrangement between the Soviet flag carrier and its Japanese counterpart during the Cold War era. Aeroflot's Il-62 fleet supported the carrier's long-range intercontinental network from Moscow, and partnerships with foreign carriers like JAL on shared or connecting routes were an important part of maintaining East-West aviation links across the Iron Curtain during this period.
