Airbus A330-243, registered B-5920, flies for China Eastern Airlines as part of the carrier's fleet of A330-200s supporting medium and long-haul international and domestic trunk routes from Shanghai. China Eastern operates a substantial widebody fleet including A330s, A350s, and 777s to serve its extensive network connecting China to destinations worldwide. As part of this fleet, B-5920 supports China Eastern's role as one of China's three major state-owned carriers and a SkyTeam alliance member, providing crucial long-haul capacity for the airline's international expansion.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers. The A330 has the same range and payload capacity as a DC-10 with 25% greater fuel efficiency. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
