Airbus A330-243, registered B-6548, flies for China Southern Airlines as part of the carrier's fleet of A330-200s supporting medium and long-haul international and domestic trunk routes from Guangzhou. China Southern operates one of the world's largest A330 fleets, using the type on routes connecting China to destinations across Asia, Australia, and Europe. As part of this fleet, B-6548 supports China Southern's role as China's largest carrier by fleet size and a key SkyTeam alliance member, providing essential widebody capacity for the airline's growing international network.
Designed as a wide-bodied, long-haul passenger transport to compete with the Boeing 767, the A330 was first flown on November 2nd, 1992. It was designed as a lengthened version of the A300 and was developed in parallel with the larger, four-engined A340, enabling many of the components to be shared between the three types. The A330 also uses the same fly-by-wire technology that was introduced with the A320, featuring a glass cockpit and side-stick controllers. The A330 has the same range and payload capacity as a DC-10 with 25% greater fuel efficiency. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
