Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registered JU-1789, was the first Dreamliner delivered to MIAT Mongolian Airlines, marking a significant fleet modernization milestone for the Mongolian flag carrier as it introduced widebody long-haul capability to its previously narrowbody-focused operations. The aircraft's maiden flight took place from Boeing's Charleston, South Carolina facility. As MIAT's flagship long-haul aircraft, the 787-9 supports the carrier's international routes connecting Ulaanbaatar to destinations across Asia and Europe, reflecting Mongolia's efforts to expand its limited but strategically important international aviation connectivity from its landlocked position between Russia and China.
Designed as a mid-sized, wide-body airliner and constructed out of mostly composite material, the 787 was first flown on December 15th, 2009. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
