Krauss-Maffei Leopard 2A4   5.25"   2"

The Bundeswehr Panzerbataillon 361 operated the Leopard 2A4 during the late Cold War and post-Cold War period. Based in Germany, the battalion was part of NATO's armored forces tasked with defending Western Europe against potential Warsaw Pact aggression. The Leopard 2A4 offered advanced fire control, strong frontal armor, and a powerful 120mm smoothbore gun, making it one of the most capable tanks of its era. Units like Panzerbataillon 361 trained extensively in maneuver warfare, emphasizing rapid movement, coordination, and high readiness during a period of heightened tension in Europe.

Common NATO practice is to provide a vehicle snorkel that is wide enough to be a crew escape route. A single long tube is typically fitted to the crew hatch on the turret; the large tube normally brought to the crossing area by supporting vehicles. The Leopard 2 uses a snorkel assembled by stacking shorter rings; the tube's height is limited to about three metres and is mounted on the crew commander's hatch. The Leopard 2 can drive through water 4 meters (13 ft) deep using a snorkel or 1.2 meters (3 ft 11 in) without any preparation.

Deisgned as a main battle tank to replace the Leopard 1, the Leopard 2 first entered service in 1979.
