The M1A2 SEPv2 Abrams is an upgraded version of the U.S. Army's M1 Abrams featuring the second-generation System Enhancement Package (SEPv2). Introduced during the late 2000s, the upgrade significantly improved battlefield awareness, survivability, and digital connectivity. It incorporates enhanced thermal sights for both the commander and gunner, upgraded armor, improved communications, and expanded power generation to support modern electronic systems. Armed with the proven 120mm M256 smoothbore cannon, the M1A2 SEPv2 retains exceptional mobility thanks to its 1,500-horsepower gas turbine engine. The variant has seen extensive service in training, overseas deployments, and combat operations, remaining one of the world's most capable main battle tanks. General Dynamics delivered the first M1 Abrams to the U.S. Army in 1980. The Abrams is a full tracked, low profile land combat system possessing a high degree of armor protection, lethal firepower, maneuverability and agility. It is built primarily from sturdy rolled homogeneous armor steel plates, sandwiched around thicker protective material. Its four man crew is aided by an array of sensors that constantly monitor the tank's tilt, the turret's motion and any gusts of wind; a computer adjusts the gun accordingly to keep it aimed at its target.
