Boeing 747-412, construction number 27068, was delivered to Singapore Airlines as 9V-SPK in 1997. The aircraft became widely known for wearing the airline's special Tropical livery, featuring vibrant colors inspired by Southeast Asia, applied to promote tourism and brand visibility. 9V-SPK operated long haul services from Singapore to destinations in Europe, Australia, and North America, serving as a flagship aircraft within the 747-400 fleet. It retained Singapore Airlines' premium cabin standards, including first, business, and economy class seating. As newer aircraft such as the A380 and 777-300ER entered service, 9V-SPK was eventually retired and withdrawn from active operations, concluding its career as one of the airline's most recognizable jumbos.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
