McDonnell Douglas MD-11, construction number 48448, registered as N111MD, was delivered as a prototype and test aircraft for McDonnell Douglas. It first flew in 1990 to support the certification program for the new widebody trijet, evaluating aerodynamics, systems, and flight performance for the MD-11 series. N111MD was equipped with extensive flight-test instrumentation and painted in McDonnell Douglas house colors. The aircraft participated in route-proving missions, performance verification, and customer demonstration flights. After completing its role in testing and development, N111MD remained in use for various evaluation and demonstration purposes, helping validate improvements for airlines receiving production MD-11 aircraft worldwide.
Designed as a wide-bodied passenger and freight transport, the MD11 was first flown on January 10th, 1990. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
