Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental, construction number 61540, was delivered to Lufthansa as D-ABYM in 2012. The aircraft served Lufthansa's long-haul network from Frankfurt to North America, Asia, and the Middle East, operating as one of the airline's flagship jets. D-ABYM featured the stretched 747-8 fuselage, advanced GEn GEnx-2B67 engines, updated avionics, and a modern passenger cabin including first, business, and economy class. Painted in Lufthansa's blue and white livery, it offered efficient, high-capacity service on premium routes. Following Lufthansa's gradual reduction of its 747-8 fleet, D-ABYM was withdrawn from service, completing its career as a key part of Lufthansa's modern widebody operations.
Designed as a large capacity airliner and freight hauler, the 747 was first flown on February 9th, 1969. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
