McDonnell Douglas MD-11, serial number 48514, entered service with Aer Lingus as N272WA. The aircraft was originally delivered to World Airways and later operated for Aer Lingus during the airline's use of leased widebody aircraft for long haul services. Configured with a multi class passenger cabin, the MD-11 provided long range capability for international routes linking Ireland with destinations across North America. Powered by General Electric CF6 engines, the aircraft offered strong range and payload capability. N272WA represents a brief but notable chapter in Aer Lingus' widebody operations during the 1990s.
Designed as a wide-bodied passenger and freight transport, the MD11 was first flown on January 10th, 1990. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
