Boeing 787-9, construction number 38504, was delivered to Qantas Airways as VH-ZND in 2018 as part of the airline's fleet modernization program. The aircraft operates long haul routes from Sydney and Melbourne to destinations in Asia, the United States, and South America, gradually replacing older 747s and A380s on selected services. VH-ZND features Qantas' modern cabin with business suites, premium economy, and economy seating, along with advanced inflight entertainment and connectivity systems. The aircraft wears a colorful art-based paint scheme, nicknamed “Yam Dreaming”, based on a 1991 painting by the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye, one of Australia’s most significant contemporary Indigenous artists.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

Designed as a mid-sized, wide-body airliner and constructed out of mostly composite material, the 787 was first flown on December 15th, 2009.
