Airbus A340-541, serial number 553, entered service with Singapore Airlines as 9V-SGA. The aircraft joined the airline's long haul fleet in the early 2000s and became well known for operating some of the world's longest nonstop commercial flights. Singapore Airlines used the A340-500 on ultra long haul routes between Singapore and cities such as Newark and Los Angeles. Configured with premium class seating, the aircraft offered enhanced comfort for very long flights. Powered by Rolls Royce Trent 553 engines, the A340-500 provided the range required for nonstop intercontinental services. 9V-SGA helped establish Singapore Airlines as a leader in ultra long haul operations.
