Airbus A340-541, serial number 557, entered service with Singapore Airlines as 9V-SGE. The aircraft became part of Singapore Airlines' specialized fleet designed for ultra long haul operations. It operated nonstop flights between Singapore and cities in the United States, demonstrating the extended range capability of the A340-500.
