Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental, construction number 60450, was delivered to Korean Air as HL7638 in 2017 as part of the airline's fleet modernization program. The aircraft operated long haul flagship routes from Seoul Incheon to North America and Europe, including Los Angeles, New York, and Frankfurt. HL7638 featured Korean Air's premium cabin configuration with first class suites, Prestige business class, and economy seating, along with the airline's latest inflight entertainment and connectivity. Powered by GEn GEnx-2B67 engines, the 747-8I offered greater fuel efficiency, range, and reliability compared with earlier 747 variants. HL7638 served as a key high-capacity aircraft in Korean Air's intercontinental network.
