The German Messerschmitt BF109 was the Luftwaffe's standard single-seat fighter and was virtually unmatched in the early years of World War II. The power of the BF109 gave it an unmatched ability to out climb and out dive any other aircraft in the sky. The BF109G was powered by a 1800 horsepower Daimler-Benz engine which enabled it outrun its enemies. The drawback was fuel consumption which proved very limiting against the RAF in the Battle of Britain.

Messerschmitt Bf 109G

Designed to meet a Luftwaffe need for a single-seat fighter/interceptor, the Messerschmitt Bf 109 was first flown on May 28th, 1935. Its all-metal construction, closed canopy and retractable gear made the Bf 109 one of the first true modern fighters of WWII. This versatile aircraft served in many roles and was the most produced aircraft of the war and the backbone of the Luftwaffe, and was flown by Germany's top three aces, who claimed a total of 928 victories between them. Armed with two cannons and two machine guns, the Bf 109's design underwent constant revisions, which allowed it to remain competitive until the end of the war.

Forces of Valor's 1:32 scale Bf 109G has a high volume of diecast metal components and many working features that are generally only seen on higher priced models. Moving parts include deployable leading edge slats, movable flaps, rudder and elevators, an opening canopy, engine cowlings that hinge correctly at the top and hinged metal main gear for easy display. Inside the radiator flaps are detailed radiators, and the V12 Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine is also finely detailed, as is the hand-painted pilot figure and pad-printed instrument panel inside the cockpit. A 20mm cannon with spent shell casing port is mounted under each wing.
