Airbus A300B4-203, serial number 110, operated by Pan American World Airways as N202PA and named "Clipper America." Pan Am introduced the A300 during the early 1980s as a high-capacity, economical widebody for shorter international and domestic routes. N202PA was used extensively from the airline's New York and Miami operations, including services to the Caribbean and Latin America. The twin-engine Airbus offered substantially lower operating costs on these sectors than Pan Am's larger Boeing 747s and Lockheed L-1011s. The A300 fleet represented an important but relatively short-lived part of Pan Am's attempts to modernize and rationalize its fleet during its financially difficult final decade.
Designed as a wide-bodied medium range transport, the A300 was first flown on July 8th, 1983. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
