Douglas DC-6B MSN 45550 / 1032 was completed in 1958 and delivered to the CAT (Civil Air Transport) in Taiwan as B-1006. With the arrival of DC-6 service the airline began the "Mandarin Flight". The aircraft decor reflected the Chinese heritage and personalized service was first and foremost. The airline operated this scheduled passenger service throughout the Orient and was extremely popular. In 1968 B-1006 was sold to Royal Air Lao, then Trans Continental and finally Air Atlantique as G-SIXC. It now is a restaurant in Coventry.
Designed to meet a USAAF requirement for a larger-capacity transport than the C-54 (DC-4), the Douglas DC-6 was first flown on June 29th, 1946. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
