A versatile tactical transport helicopter, the Black Hawk has greatly enhanced the U.S. Army's mobility. Armed with two, 7.62mm machine guns, it can carry a fully equipped, 11 man infantry squad and cargo lift up to 9,000 lbs. of external load.
Designed as a better-performing, more reliable replacement for the UH-1 Huey, the UH-60 Black Hawk was first flown on November 29, 1974. The Black Hawk was one of the first aircraft to use the General Electric T700, a common turbine engine designed for use in multiple Army helicopters. This four-bladed, twin-engined, medium-lift aircraft has a low-profile shape so that it can be transported aboard the C-130 Hercules. It also has greater survivability than the helicopter it replaced, with advanced avionics and electronics such as the Global Positioning System (GPS). The Black Hawk also serves as Marine One when transporting the President of the United States. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Forces of Valor's 1:72 scale UH-60 Blackhawk is a nicely-priced, well executed diecast replica of this iconic helicopter. The top portion of the fuselage is constructed from diecast metal, with the bottom portion reproduced in plastic to allow for maximum detail, such as carefully reproduced rivets. Crew figures can be seen beneath the green house canopy, and a fully rendered cargo bay can be viewed through side windows. The rotors spin freely, and the rotor head assemblies are highly detailed, as are the turbine engines visible inside the opening engine panels. The model is armed with two M240 machine guns on either side of the fuselage.
