MSN 247 was a Vickers Viscount V.779 built for Fred Olsen Flyselskap A/S and registered as LN-FOM. The aircraft powered by Rolls-Royce Dart 510 engines first flew at Hurn, England on Monday March 11, 1957 and was delivered to Fred Olsen on April 30, 1957. On January 1, 1958 the aircraft was leased to AUA - Austrian Airlines and was registered as OE-LAE. After 2 years and 4 months the aircraft was returned to Fred Olsen in April, 1960. BEA - British European Airways was the next to lease the aircraft in June 1960 and registered it as G-ARBW. BEA returned the aircraft in April 1961. From December 1961 until January 1962 (2 months) SAS - Scandinavian Airlines System leased the aircraft as LN-FOM. Once again returned to Fred Olsen the aircraft was sold to IAC - Indian Airlines Corp. on January 28, 1962. The new registration was VT-DOD and given the name "Madras" and later renamed "Mysore". MSN 247 was in operation as VT-DOD for 9 years before being withdrawn from service in July 1971. The aircraft was stored for a while but eventually fell victim to the wrecker at Palam, Delhi, India.

Vickers Viscount 700

Designed as a medium-range pressurized turboprop aircraft, the Vickers Viscount first flew on July 16, 1948. As the world's first turboprop airliner, the Viscount filled a need for passenger transport on less popular routes. The early 630 design could carry 32 passengers, but it was ultimately rejected because of high per-passenger costs that made it impractical for commercial purposes. The redesigned 700 could carry up to 48 passengers, and the later Type 800 "Super Viscount" added an extra 23 passengers for a total of 71. The Viscount remained in airline service until 1985, when it became primarily a charter service aircraft.
