The Mikoyan MiG-29 is a fighter aircraft designed for the air superiority role in the Soviet by the Russian Air Force as well as in many other nations. NATO's reporting name for the MiG-29 is "Fulcrum", which was unofficially used by Soviet pilots in service. Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight". Designed to help the Soviet Union attain air superiority, the MiG-29 fighter was first flown on October 6th, 1977. The MiG-29, known as the "Fulcrum," has a high-mounted bubble canopy and twin jet engines with diagonal-shaped air intakes and large exhausts. Its tapered, swept-back wings and boom-mounted tail fins give it its classic look. Armed with medium and short-range missiles and unguided weapons for ground and sea-surface targets, the MiG-29's sight is a helmet-mounted system-the pilot chooses his targets by looking at them. Witty's 1:72 scale MiG-29 is constructed almost entirely of diecast metal, with careful attention paid to even the smallest of details. This is a model with many movable parts, including a hinged canopy, deployable speed breaks and movable rudders with correctly replicated actuator mechanism. The landing gear is highly detailed, with rivets inside the gear doors, separately applied transparent landing lights, structural detail inside the wheel wells and a detailed splash fender. The auxiliary air inlet's louvers seamlessly blend with the upper fuselage.
